EMDR Intensives
For When Insight Isn’t Enough
You can say, “I know where this comes from. I’ve talked about it. I understand it.” But your body still reacts like you’re back there. EMDR intensives with Eva Light, LCSW, give you focused, extended time to reprocess what weekly therapy keeps circling, so your nervous system can finally catch up to what your mind already knows.

You Understand the Pattern. You Still Feel Stuck in It.
EMDR intensives are designed for people who have already done a lot of the thinking. You know where it comes from. You've talked about it. You understand it. But your body still reacts like you're back there. If several of these sound familiar, an intensive may be a good fit.
You grew up walking on eggshells, and part of you still scans every room for a shift in mood.
You're successful by most measures, but chronically anxious underneath it all.
You feel responsible for everyone else's emotions, and you can't say no without feeling guilty.
You keep choosing unavailable people, even though you can see the pattern clearly.
You intellectually understand your childhood, but around your parents you still react like you're 15.
You've spent years in therapy talking about what happened, and you're ready to work differently.
An intensive gives you the time to work with these patterns directly, so your body can finally catch up to what your mind already understands.
Get Started TodayMore Time, Fewer Interruptions, Deeper Work
In weekly therapy, much of each session goes to settling in and winding down before time runs out. An intensive gives EMDR the uninterrupted space it works best in, so you can stay with difficult material long enough for real reprocessing to happen. Here's a closer look at how it works.
A different way to process what's stayed stuck
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) doesn't require you to retell every detail of what happened. Instead, it uses bilateral stimulation, like guided eye movements or tapping, to help your brain and body reprocess difficult experiences so they gradually lose their emotional charge.
No more “we have 12 minutes left”
Weekly sessions often end just as the work gets going. Intensives use longer, focused blocks of time so you can work through a primary target and its associated memories and themes in one sitting, instead of opening and closing the same material week after week.
Grounding before processing
Every intensive begins with history, target mapping, and resourcing, so you have grounding tools in place before deeper processing begins. Processing starts only when it's clinically appropriate, and you'll never be pushed into memories before you feel ready to work with them.
Patterns that started at home
Intensives are a strong fit for people-pleasing, chronic anxiety, guilt around boundaries, repeating relationship patterns, and the attachment and generational themes that still shape how you react to your family. We'll talk through whether an intensive is the right fit during your free consultation.
When Weekly Therapy Keeps Circling the Same Place
You've done the work of understanding. You can name the pattern, trace it back, and explain it with real clarity. An EMDR intensive is for the part that insight alone hasn't reached: the reactions that still fire in your body before your mind can catch up.
A few reasons people choose an intensive:
- They've gained a lot of insight and want change to feel real in the body, not just the mind
- They want to work through a primary target without stopping every 50 minutes
- They want focused time on the attachment and generational themes that keep repeating
- They're tired of reacting to their parents like they're 15 again
- They're ready for a concentrated, time-limited format instead of open-ended weekly sessions

The EMDR Intensive, Phase by Phase
The EMDR Intensive is a series of 3-hour sessions with Eva over 8 to 10 weeks. The work moves through three clear phases, so you always know where you are in the process and what comes next.
Map + Prepare
History, target mapping, attachment and generational themes, resourcing, identifying negative beliefs, and beginning processing when clinically appropriate.
Process
The deepest reprocessing work. Across these sessions, you can work through the primary target and its associated memories and themes without the artificial “we have 12 minutes left” problem of weekly therapy.
Integrate + Move Forward
Reevaluate, continue processing remaining material, build a future template, integrate what's shifted, and leave with a concrete plan for what comes next.
