You're Not Alone

Does This Sound Familiar?

Every relationship hits rough patches. If a few of these feel close to home, couples therapy might help.

The same argument keeps circling back with nothing resolved by the end.

You've started keeping score, even when you don't mean to.

Physical affection has faded into something closer to roommates than partners.

One of you brings up couples therapy, and the other changes the subject.

Trust took a hit, and you're not sure how to get it fully back.

You love each other, and you're still not sure how you got here.

If a few of these felt close to home, it might be time to talk to someone.

What We Understand

Every Relationship Carries Layers

We work alongside the patterns many couples carry: conversations that keep breaking down, trust that's been shaken, distance that crept in, or transitions that put pressure on the relationship. Here's a closer look at each one.

01 — Communication Breakdown

Learning to hear each other again

Conversations turn into the same fight, or stop happening at all. Small comments get read the wrong way, and it takes real effort to bring up anything that matters. We help you slow down enough to hear each other again.

Active Listening De-Escalation Repair
02 — Rebuilding Trust

Finding a way back after a break

Something happened, a betrayal, a broken promise, or a slow drift toward distance, and it left a mark. Rebuilding takes both consistency and time. We help you figure out what repair looks like for your relationship.

Betrayal Accountability Repair
03 — Growing Apart

Closing the distance between you

You've noticed distance where there used to be closeness, more like coexisting than partnership. Life gets full, and connection can slip without either of you meaning for it to. We help you find your way back toward each other.

Connection Intimacy Reconnection
04 — Life Transitions Together

Navigating change as a team

A move, a new baby, blending families, or a career change can put pressure on even a strong relationship. We help you navigate the transition as a team instead of two people managing it separately.

Question 1 of 4
Signs It Might Be Time

When Distance Becomes the Norm

You've noticed something has shifted between you, whether it happened gradually or after one specific moment. The conflict doesn't resolve, and the connection you used to have feels harder to find.

Common reasons couples reach out to us:

  • Recurring arguments that never fully resolve
  • Feeling more like roommates than partners
  • Trust that's been shaken
  • Difficulty communicating without it turning into conflict
  • A growing distance neither of you wants
How It Works

What to Expect When You Start

Three steps, at a pace that respects where you both are right now.

01
Day One

Free Consultation

A short call with both of you to share what's bringing you to therapy and see if we're the right fit. No pressure, just a conversation.

02
Day Two

Intake Assessment

Your first full session gives us a clearer picture of your relationship's history and patterns, so your care plan fits both of you instead of a template.

03
Day Three & On

Ongoing Therapy

Regular sessions built around your goals as a couple, whether that's weekly support or space to check in less often.

Frequently Asked Questions

The things women ask us most before booking. If yours isn't here, just call.

Do we need a referral to start couples therapy?
No referral needed. Either partner can reach out directly, and we'll schedule a free consultation to get started.
Do you take insurance?
Guiding Kindness Therapy is a private pay practice. We can provide a superbill so you can seek reimbursement from your insurance provider directly, if your plan allows it.
Is virtual couples therapy available?
Yes. We offer virtual sessions across Pennsylvania, Florida, and Maine, along with in-person sessions in Bala Cynwyd and Philadelphia.
How long does couples therapy usually take?
There's no fixed timeline. Some couples come for a few months around a specific issue, others stay longer term. We check in on your goals together regularly and adjust as needed.
What if only one of us wants to go to therapy?
That's common, and it's still worth reaching out. We can talk through what individual or couples work might look like given where you're both starting from.
What happens at our first appointment?
We'll talk through what's bringing you to therapy, your history as a couple, and what you're both hoping will feel different. From there, we build a plan together.
